Vampire Addendum To Code Of Conduct
Feeding on PCs must have OOC consent on both sides. This consent is not to be assumed, I.E. it is not up to the victim to object. The player of the Vampire looking to feed must explicitly seek consent from the victim's player. The sexual overtones of The Kiss make this rule about consent necessary.
Errata
White Wolf has provided a semi-official errata for Vampire: the Requiem and its supplemental materials. It is compiled at the White Wolf Wiki. Our Storytellers will be using these corrections in their rulings, so it would be a good idea to take a look for yourself. You can take a look here.
Rules clarification: Haven & Temple
These Merits (Haven from V:TR & Temple from CotC) are essentially the same Merit. Any quality that can be applied to one of them can also be applied to the other. This means that an Acolyte with a temple can buy Temple (Occultation) & any vampire with a haven can buy Haven (Library). (For more detail on these Merits check Vampire: The Requiem, Circle of the Crone, and Shadows in the Dark: Mekhet.)
Clanbook Merits
All merits that say "once per session" are assumed to mean in a chat format once per day. The following have some clarifications that need to be made:
- Inherited Resistance: The +2 bonus to resistance is a +2 bonus to your resistance attribute, not to a contesting roll. For example, when resisting Dominate 3: The Forgetful Mind subtracts their target's Resolve+2 from their pool.
- Pack Blooded: This must be purchased by at least three members of the coterie at once. If one leaves the coterie, the Merit is refunded at half-cost. As long as at least two of the vampires in the coterie have this Merit they can maintain it. If one of the two leaves the pack (and it is important who makes this decision), the other gets a full refund of XP for the Merit.
- Cacophony Listener: (•••) Requires Daeva Status •, You gain your Daeva Status to all Rumors Checks to reflect your increased access whispers within your Clan. Additionally, word spreads through your grapevine like wildfire. When you make a successful Rumors Check, post the results on the forum. You and all characters with this Merit are considered to know about the rumors on this forum. This will greatly magnify the information to which your character has access.
Clan-Specific Mechanics
Special Clan-specific mechanics presented in the Clanbooks (Malkavia, Red Surrender, post-mortem Embrace and the Hollow) are sanctioned for use by PCs at STs discretion. Post-mortem Embraces may be taken at character creation or performed IC. Becoming a Hollow after character creation will require a storyline as will obtaining Malkavia. Red-Surrender requires an ST present when used.
Average Blood Pool
The following will be the ABP system we will use until Jeff's finished with the automated system. This will be assumed to be your character's assumed blood pool. Before planned scenes, you may be allowed a hunting roll for additional vitae at the ST's discretion.
Hunting Ground:
- Central, Western District - base 7
- Northern, Coronado, Mid-district, Imperial Beach - base 5
- Eastern, North-eastern, Chula Vista, southeastern, National City - base 3
Modifiers:
- Coil of blood: +1
- Protean 2 as resting place: -1
- Feeding from animals: +1
- Herd: +0.5 per dot
- Haven location: +0.5 per dot (haven must be in a location you have feeding rights)
- Ghoul: -0.5 per ghoul
- Lifestyle: -1 for blush of life regularly (declare it at scene start at will)
- Regular daylight activity: -0.5
Blood Transfers
To attempt to create or sustain viniculum or ghouls, a vampire must spend a full blood point. A tiny bit of blood can get a person interested, but it will have no more effect than that. The character has enough control to say that they don't want more if they don't want more. You must have OOC consent to ghoul or bloodbond a PC.
Bloodlines
Bloodlines come in three tiers, each handled slightly differently. This is the policy as it stands, the one we'll be using to approve characters.
1) Preferred Bloodlines. This list will be reviewed regularly. It includes a series of lines we feel are conducive to the setting, and we have material planned for. If you want to start with one of these lines, you may do so at character creation for one restricted slot and a dot of Willpower, if you start play with Blood Potency 2. Note that we will review the list, and bloodlines that seem to have strong in-character relationships will be considered for addition.
Anvari, Bruja, Hounds of Actaeon, Kinnaree, Malkovian, Mayarap, Players, Shepherds, Sotoha, Toreador, California Xiao
2) Other bloodlines. We'll review the vast majority on a case-for-case basis. If you choose to develop one of these, you may at Blood Potency 4 (and thus, not at character creation.) We'll work with you on getting you into them, just tell us. I specifically will be running bloodline storylines.
3) Banned bloodlines. We'll try to keep this list as limited as possible. These are lines we absolutely will not approve, because we feel they're counter to the game we're trying to run. Bohagande are the only ones we've currently banned.
Ghouls
Ghouls are not treated as equals to vampires. Probably the best analogy is that they are servants. A dormitor will be held responsible for the conduct of their ghouls. How you want to treat ghouls and how NPC's respond to ghouls is up to the character (or NPC) in question. Destroying another vampire's ghoul without very good reason is risky, the Carthian laws are written to be deliberately vague when it comes to ghouls. Ghouls will be allowed in the Heaven & Hell Elysium (both floors) on their own, but may not enter The Bunker without their dormitor present.
PC Ghoul Creation
You must have OOC consent to ghoul or bloodbond a PC. Everything is as per Vampire: The Requiem corebook, please note the rules on vitae addiction. Ghouls will purchase the "Regnant" merit from the Ghouls book. The number of dots in "Regnant: Power" that must be purchased is equal to the regnant's highest clan, covenant, or city status. Dots in "Regnant: Favor" and "Regnant: Trust" are variable to represent the relationship between the ghoul and regnant.
Awe
Bonuses gleaned from Awe can exceed your Humanity cap for social rolls with mortals. Additionally, per the White Wolf published Errata, you do not need to score more successes on this roll than the target's Composure. You select the number of targets you want to captivate, then make your roll with the penalty. If effects that number, starting with characters with the lowest Composure.
- A bit about what constitutes "attention" where this power is concerned.
Permanent Night Rooms
Permanent Night rooms are for vampires only. Ghouls may enter only with their regnants. Time in Permanent Night rooms is intentionally vague. We will not add an absolute In-Character time for these rooms. Instead, time is always deep night: several hours after dusk and before sunrise. If you need to arrange a meeting, it should be done OOC, using server time, as posted on the front page of the site, so as to avoid any confusion. This is not a perfect system, but it is the concession we will make to help those who want to play vampires but can't work within our normal day/night schedule.
Predator's Taint
Predator's Taint is rolled in only two cases: when an ST calls for it in a scene or when a player wishes to voluntarily roll it due to the nature of the first contact. When you have rolled for another character, you can note it on your Predator's Taint list. This ruling is created so that a player's chance to interact in a scene isn't left to blind chance. Wanton Wicked is asking for a social game. Thus we modify the rules to help facilitate a social game.
Note: Predator's Taint is a dynamic which is intended to add to the personal horror of the game. It only cues ON SIGHT of another vampire, and its effects are felt most strongly that first time. If you don't see the vampire that is hiding in the shadows nearby, then your Beast couldn't possibly react to him!
Thralls and Ghouls and the Vinculum
Thralls and Ghouls are only subject to the vinculum if the vitae comes directly from the vampires body. In other words, there should be no intervening item, like a cup, or glass filled with wine, etc. If the vitae is mixed with wine or any other substance, or does not come directly from the 'source' the vinculum does not form. You must have OOC consent to ghoul or bloodbond a PC.
Vitae tastes like blood. It's addictive, it's pleasurable, it's the most delicious thing in the world. But it still tastes like blood, and without the aid of Dominate, drugs, or being asleep, it is difficult to mistake it for anything else.
Status and Sorcery
Covenant status 1 is required for sorcery 1-2, status 2 for sorcery 3, status 3 for sorcery 4, status 4 for sorcery 5. Ordo Dracul status 1 is required for tiers 1, coils 1-2, status 2 is required for tier 2, coils 3-4, status 3 is coils 5-6, and status 4 for tier 3, coils 7-8, status 5 for tier 4.
